Lowcountry Cocktails


When you’re on vacation, you’re looking for ultimate relaxation, the warm sun… and maybe a few cocktails. With this in mind, we wanted to help you get creative with your drinks and add a little “lowcountry twist” to some classics!

Pineapple-Coconut Mojito:


So if you haven’t noticed, we’re big fans of pineapples.. whether its pineapple decor, or pineapple in a dish, we love it! Pineapples are the original symbol of hospitality which is something that is extremely important to us, at Beach Properties. Adding a little symbolic hospitality here and there could never hurt! So here is our version of a classic mojito with some pineapple and coconut added for an extra punch of island hospitality!


  • 1 6-oz can pineapple juice
  • 1/2 cup coconut water
  • 2 Tablespoons lime juice
  • 4-oz. rum (optional)
  • 1/2 cup La Croix Lime sparkling water
  • Garnish: pineapple wedges, cherries


  1. In a cocktail shaker, combine pineapple juice, coconut water, lime juice and rum. You can either serve over ice immediately or chill in refrigerator until your party starts.
  2. Fill 2 tall glasses with ice and divide rum mixture evenly. Add 1/4 cup sparkling water to each glass. Garnish with a pineapple wedge & a cherry, if desired. If making a pitcher, add sparkling water just before serving. Drink up!


Rose and White Peach Sangria:


Typically people think of a sugary, sweet concoction made with cheap wine when they think of sangria, but this is an elevated and slightly more classy version of the Spanish drink you may be expecting. Similarly, people tend to immediately think Georgia when peaches are mentioned, which is actually funny, because here, in South Carolina, we are the number 1 producers of peaches in the US! So to make use of some of those abundant, fuzzy little fruits, we’ve created this sangria to make by the pitcher to share!


  • 2 white peaches
  • 1 white nectarine
  • 6 large basil leaves
  • 1 bottle rosé (your choice!)
  • seltzer water or sparkling lemonade


1. Peel the peaches and nectarine and cut into roughly 1-inch pieces.
2. Throw those into a pitcher along with the basil leaves, and use a wooden spoon to muddle everything before adding your liquids.
3. Add the rosé, cover with plastic wrap, and let sit in the fridge for at least 1 hour so the fruits can infuse.
4. Pour over ice-filled glasses and top with a splash of seltzer water or sparkling lemonade, depending on the sweetness you want. Enjoy!

Sweet Tea Mint Juleps:


Lastly, we have a lowcountry classic cocktail, mixed with another lowcountry classic drink, creating a marriage of flavors perfect for a summer night on the porch with friends, recounting the activities of the day. This is sweet tea, something we in the south take very seriously, and mint juleps, a timeless classic known for derby days and always linked hand-in-hand with a good time.


  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 5 to 6 mint leaves
  • 2 family-sized tea bags, I use Luzianne
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 3/4 to 1 cup bourbon
  • crushed ice
  • lemon slices
  • mint sprigs


  1. Bring 2 cups water, sugar, and mint leaves to a boil in a medium saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar
  2. Remove from heat and add tea bags. Steep for about 5 minutes.Remove tea bags and add 3 cups cold water to create your sweet tea.
  3. Refrigerate in a pitcher until ready to serve.
  4. Add bourbon to the tea mixture in the pitcher. Fill glasses with crushed ice. Add tea-bourbon mixture and garnish with lemon and mint. Squeeze lemon into drink if desired. Savor this one!
