Local Hilton Head Island Goods!

local oyster shell necklaces

When you go on vacation, you may want to buy yourself a little something to remember the memories you made, the culture of the place you visited, or just to have something exclusive that no one else you know will have. Some may buy a t-shirt, others may take home a shell, but we believe in supporting locals artisans and business by shopping for local goods that are authentic and exclusive to where you vacationed! We rounded up some of Hilton Head’s greatest local goods for you to peruse as you plan what to find on your next vacation

The Little Fish Boateak:

This local jeweler creates beautiful, coastal bracelets, necklaces, and earrings from local materials, all inspired by the island. This isn’t your typical cheesy puka shell necklace, all of the pieces are designed and handcrafted with a combination of high quality leather, gemstones, pearls, sterling silver and 14 KT gold fill  as the perfect complement to the natural beauty of the low country.

Spartina 449:

You may have heard of Spartina bags, accessories, beachwear, etc. before, but that’s just because of how incredibly popular this local business has grown. Calling our little neighbor island of Daufuski, home, and the flagship store being in Bluffton, this local business is as lowcountry as can be. Spartina started out with fun patterned bags featuring a mix of leather and linen, and creating island fashion for all to enjoy. Our favorite collection is the Sea Islands collection that features Hilton Head Island on the pattern (towel on top left)!

Gullah Sweetgrass Baskets:

This is a classic lowcountry take away but that’s because they hold so much history! These hand woven baskets are made with centuries old designs and are made by generations upon generations of the Gullah community. These baskets can be found all over the island from gift shops to farmer’s markets– we suggest the ladder as this offers a chance to speak to the craftsmen and hear their stories and their process which is more than half of the charm and interest in buying these baskets.
