Holidays on Hilton Head Island are a great time to visit! Our “snow” is actually sand, but we still have a festive spirit! Everywhere you look on the Island you can see signs of the season…from the lights in Harbour Town to Neptune wearing a Santa hat in Shelter Cove.
The Dove Street Festival of Lights, an Island holiday tradition for 20 years, is coming back to life at Shelter Cove Towne Centre! The magic of this cascading and tastefully tacky dispay can be seen nightly, 6-10 pm, from December 1, 2014 to January 4, 2015. Events throughout the month-long festival include the official lighting ceremony on Monday, December 8th, along with community caroling, face painting and glitter tattoos, appearances by Cappy the Clown, and a blood drive for the American Red Cross. Both The Deep Well Project and PEP (Programs for Exceptional People) will be accepting donations onsite.
Not to be outdone, Sea Pines will be featuring its own light display in Harbour Town. The Harbour Town Lights—Friday, November 28, 2014 to Friday, January 2, 2015—feature illuminated seasonal figures along the Harbour, with a towing 30-foot lighted Christmas tree as the centerpiece of the display. Bring a canned good or two, or a new unwrapped children’s toy for The Deep Well Project.
Another Harbour Town holiday event you won’t want to miss is the Gregg Russell Christmas Concert, held this year on Tuesday, December 23rd, 7:30-9 pm. This complimentary concert features songs of the season for children and adults alike. And following the concert, there will be a special visit from Santa Claus!
