If you are vacationing on Hilton Head Island with your kids at the end of October, have no fear!
There are some super-fun opportunities for trick-or-treating here… As a matter of fact, if they play their cards right your little goblins and witches can keep going and rake in the candy and treats from dawn til dusk, and beyond! It’s a kind of “Hilton Head Candy Marathon”… Here’s an all-day-fun-day schedule:
10AM – 1PM – First up: HALLOWEEN WAGON RIDE through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve.
As the 1st event of the day, be sure they show off their costume as it will still be fresh, and in one piece! Head’s Up: There is a scavenger hunt to find the pumpkin patch. Reservations Required
1PM-3PM – Then make your way to TRICK OR TREAT TANGERSTYLE at the Tanger Outlet Mall in Bluffton.
(We have a funny little suspicion that this stop on the Halloween Trick-or-Treat Trail is actually for Mommy. Perhaps she’s hoping that the Michael Kors store will be handing out treats a lot bigger than M&Ms!!)
Tanger is hosting a costume contest for little fashionistas, and the Sandbox Museum and the Coastal Discovery Museum will both be on hand to make cool crafts and talk about BATS!!
After a slight break in the action to weed through the candy acquisitions and perhaps grab a little “party nap” it’s time for:
5PM – 7PM – TRUNK-O-WEEN
Head over to the new Shelter Cove Towne Center for this new and unique event. This is done in collaboration with the Concours d’Elegance car show, so not only will all the stores be giving out candy, some really cool cars will have their trunks decorated and will be doling it out as well!
This will be a fun scene, with bounce houses, music, prizes, etc.
And if things have escalated into over-drive from all the sugar, and the costumes are still in one piece, you can even get in some REAL LIVE HOUSE-TO-HOUSE TRICK-OR-TREATING in two neighborhoods here on the island:
Ashton Cove, which is on the South End in the Point Comfort Neighborhood, and Chinaberry Ridge, on the North End off Gumtree Rd. These houses get decorated early and thoroughly, and tons of kids pour in to partake in the good old-fashioned ritual of running the streets and ringing doorbells. Starts at approx. 5pm – until dark or the candy runs out!
Whew! What a great selection of activities for the kiddies!
And after it’s all over and the “Frozen” dresses and “Superhero” outfits have been discarded… the sugar-rush has finally worn off… and the little ones hit the hay,
a question may pop up for the parents:
Cocktail, anyone? We’ve got you covered:
8PM – Head over to the Rooftop Bar at Poseidon for a decidedly adult-themed HALLOWEEN PARTY AND COSTUME CONTEST.
