Over the years Hilton Head Island has not only established itself as a fabulous vacation destination for those seeking sand and sun but it is has also become known as a destination to tempt even the pickiest of palates.
Hilton Head Island is home to over 200 restaurants comprised largely of locally owned and eclectic dining establishments which offer everything from southern BBQ to fine dining in non-pretentious settings. So while you throw on your flip flops (yes, most welcome casual attire and kids!) and get ready to head out on the town with the family or friends, we will guide you through the daunting task of determining where and/ or what to eat in this delicious destination.
Beach Properties of Hilton Head has consulted our own local resident “foodie” and Vacation Planner, Dana Nicholas, for a few insider tips! Dana has been a Hilton Head area resident for over 14 years and has spent that time working in the hospitality industry and enjoying the array of local eateries and lowcountry cuisine that make dining on Hilton Head unique. Dana’s top three all around favorites (in no particular order) Frankie Bones, Red Fish, and the Sage Room are sure to leave your mouth watering as you peruse these local eateries offerings from appetizer to entree. While the majority of local restaurants do not take reservations during the summer, these top 3 do offer reservations on a limited basis so plan in advance and avoid a wait!
Should you be feeling more “surf” than turf and looking for al fresco dining in a true Lowcountry atmosphere, Dana suggests the Skull Creek Boathouse. The Boathouse is a perennial favorite when the weather allows for dining on the deck amidst the large oaks while enjoying the breathtaking views of Skull Creek. Those desiring authentic New Mexican food at its best will enjoy sitting outside in the roof top cantina of the Santa Fe Café while dining on such delights as a Ribeye Burrito.
If you are looking for something a little more “budget” oriented for the family, you may want to try the Wild Wing Café (which originated on Hilton Head!) or the Sea Shack (as featured on the television program Rachel Ray) . Fabulous food awaits at both of these but plan to get there early during the summer season to avoid the crowds. Those staying with Beach Properties can also save at many of the local favorite eateries with the Beach Properties Preferred Guest Program which offers discounts or freebies that will allow you to enjoy more for less!
While these tasteful tips will hopefully come in handy when wading through the many options available to you when dining out on Hilton Head, as a Vacation Planner with Beach Properties, Dana is also a valuable resource when it comes to selecting the perfect home or villa for you and your family. Make your visit to Hilton Head Island one to savor with a little help from Beach Properties!
